Dental Implants

Dental implants are one of the most popular and successful forms of tooth replacement. At Neighborhood Family Dentistry, we work closely with local specialists to ensure you have the best possible care.

What are dental implants?

Dental implants are small titanium screws placed directly in the jaw bone that replace missing teeth, restoring the form, function and look of your smile.

Why get dental implants?

Dental implants are a common way to replace missing teeth (along with dentures and dental bridges). Implants are self-contained units, which means they do not affect other teeth. They’re also easier to clean and help to preserve your jawbone and facial structure.

Do dental implants look natural?

Nothing compares to your own natural teeth, but dental implants can come close. Modern dental implants are fit with custom abutments and porcelain crowns to mimic the look and function of your natural tooth.

Who’s a good candidate for dental implants?

Dental implants can be very effective for a wide range of patients, including seniors. However, conditions that affect the supply of blood to the alveolar bone in your jaw (where the implant screws in) can increase the risk of failure. Potential issues include diabetes, smoking or others.

Are dental implants covered by insurance?

Insurance coverage depends on your insurance provider. Different policies can vary widely when it comes to dental implants – some will cover a healthy portion of the procedure while others won’t cover them at all.

How long do dental implants last?

Taken care of properly, dental implants can last a lifetime.

Where do I have a dental implant done?

Dr. Brown at Neighborhood Family Dentistry does not perform the placement of dental implants in office, however, after diagnosing your problem, relies on highly trained specialists to get the job done thoroughly and efficiently. After the implant is placed, Dr. Brown will restore the implant with an abutment and crown.
